Words per sentence. Similar bars show even sentence lengths. This describes rhythm and does not establish authorship.

Signals measured
Sentence-length variation100
Sentences average 15 words with a variation of 0.14. Sentence lengths are similar; consider whether the rhythm serves the ideas.
LLM-favoured phrasing100
Found 11 instances of phrasing overrepresented in model output: "it is important to note", "in today's digital landscape", "navigate the complexities", "harness the power", "furthermore", "moreover".
Hedging language100
6 hedges ("can be", "may be", "tends to", "generally"). Qualifications can be necessary; check that uncertainty remains accurate.
Rule-of-three lists51
1 three-item list. Three-item lists can be useful in either human or AI writing.

How to read this. This is a local heuristic style index. Human and AI writing can share these patterns. It has not been calibrated as an authorship probability or to predict other detectors. Try the Darwin and GPT samples to see the overlap.

Questions

Does this tell me if text was written by AI?
This sentence editor measures style, not authorship. Its heuristic index is not an AI probability. The homepage can also show independent detector probabilities when a detector is connected. Detectors can make mistakes, particularly on short or unfamiliar passages.
My writing is my own but keeps getting flagged. Why?
Human and AI writing can share stylistic patterns. The local editor highlights even sentence lengths, stock wording and other patterns to help you review your prose. These signals do not prove why a particular detector flagged it.
What does a rewrite actually change?
It restores natural cadence: varied sentence length, contractions where they fit, uncertainty preserved, fewer redundant connectives like 'furthermore'. Figures, dates and quotations are checked after every draft and any draft that loses one is rejected. You can also rewrite a single sentence, or mark sentences to keep exactly as written. Read the result before you use it — you remain accountable for what it says.
What is free?
Scanning is free and unlimited — it runs in your browser with no AI model involved, so it costs us nothing. Rewrites use language models, so the free tier includes 600 rewritten words a day, up to 300 at a time, with no account needed. A rewrite that does not lower your score does not count.
Do you store the text I paste?
The scan runs in your browser; your text is not sent to us. Rewrites are sent to a model provider to be generated — DeepSeek on the free tier; Anthropic and OpenAI on paid plans. Do not paste anything confidential, unpublished under embargo, or covered by a client NDA.

The full method — every signal and its weight — is published on the method page.
